The episode started with a typical itchy and scratchy short. Shortly after, the family is greeted by Herman Melville who brings the family with good news regarding bart's short film "angry dad," telling them that he wants to make it a movie. Homer and Bart find themselves in the production studio where everyone is excited to meet them. Homer is offered the job as voice of angry dad as the original actor quit because he wasn't paid. After the first screening, it turns out everyone hated it. Lisa proposes that they should turn the movie into a short film where it turns out to be a hit! During many award ceremonies, Homer is the one who accepts all the awards while Bart is overshadowed by homer's unnecessary thank-you speeches. Bart soon after gets an Oscar nominee where he fails to inform homer in order to get his time in the spotlight. The episode closes with Bart delivering a sentimental speech addressing the collaborative efforts of film making. The last scene depicts homer and Bart so generously distributing the Oscar among the crew.
Overall, I thought the episode was just "OK." It had its moments but seemed to be filled with a lot of unnecessary filler animation. Examples of this is when they would show the satirical shorts of other movies. One of the things I find interesting is how Matt Groening is able to use real movies and real people in the show. Hopefully next weeks episode will be better.
